VERNA JEAN NICHOLL (nee ANDERSON) Suddenly, on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at St. Michaels Hospital, Toronto, ON, Verna passed away at the age of 77 years. Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband Tom; daughter Gwen Zirk (Mervyn) of Vimy, AB; son Ernie Nicholl (Donna) of Armstrong, ON; daughters, Elaine Nicholl of Vimy, AB and Pat Stefishen (Neil Muryn) of Winnipeg, MB; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Olive Helpard of Halifax, NS and Shaureen Sheppard (Rick) of Riverview, NB; brother Chalmers Anderson (Iona) of Stewiak, NS; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Verna was predeceased by her father Andy in 1977; her mother Belle in 1991; and her grandson Trevor Nicholl on December 16, 2003. Verna was born in Glace Bay, NS on September 20, 1926. On June 30, 1945, Verna and Tom were married in Glace Bay, NS. Together they lived all their married lives in Winnipeg in the St. Vital area. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, St. Vital Branch No. 16 and C.N. Vets Five Pin Bowling League. Verna was also associated with The Winnipeg White Ensign Naval Club and the C.N. Pensioners Association. In accordance with Vernas wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Flowers gratefully declined.
